A Prayer for Pearlie (1993-2002)
Open wide thou pearly gates
for a beautiful, loving kitty
of the same name–
for Pearlie: who loved us
as we loved her,
each a comforter to the other.
That was her calling–
to love and be loved in
return.
It is written that an urn
shall hold her mortal remains.
But it is in our hearts
that she will ever
remain.
