Sam by Twyla Conder / Mommy, Mawmaw and Pawpaw

I loved you from the first time I saw you. I wrapped you in a blanket and cradled you like a baby. Your full name was Samuel James Earl after grandpa. To me you were my baby, my precious little man. I promised to always love you and take care of you.

You were my best friend. You were loyal, faithful and gave my life meaning. Always there to comfort when things just didn’t go right. You gave unconditional love. I am so blessed to have had you in my life.

Pawpaw misses you chewing on his house shoes, you had to buy him a new pair for Christmas one year. Mawmaw misses afternoon coffee and snuggle time. You touched their lives and hearts and they love and miss you so much.

I fought so hard to save you after the vet said you had congestive heart failure and cardiomyopathy. I prayed with all my heart that you would get better. It wasn’t meant to be. The day you passed I seen how weak and tired you had grown. My prayer changed, I told you how much I loved you, how much you meant to me and how empty my life would be without you. I couldn’t stand to see you suffer so when you were ready to go it was okay. You looked up at me with your big black eyes and seemed relieved, You kissed my cheek and tried to make the tears stop. Even then you were still trying to take care of me.

We placed you in the sturdy wooden box pawpaw built for you. We wrapped you in all your favorite blankets, including your Winnie the Pooh blanket that mawmaw bought you. We placed some of your favorite toys with you. You are buried outside my bedroom – our room.

The grief and pain are unbearable and at times it’s hard to breath. I miss your warm kisses, the bed is empty without you. I packed all your toys and belongings away, I can’t bear to part with them.

Sam, you were my world. You were my precious baby boy. I miss you so much. My heart aches to hold you one more time. I know you are in Heaven running and playing and laying in the cool green grass. I asked Jesus to watch over you until it was my time then you will meet me at the gate and we will never be seperated again. Until then you will live on in my heart and dreams.
