Sasha by Dianna Doughton / Love Mommy

The first time I saw Sasha I was in a pet store in Austin Texas. She was bouncing from side to side in the cage. I watched her like I had watched all of the other puppies but I’ve always had a special place in my heart for Lhasa Apsos and could not get her out of my mind. I thought about her for days and then decided one day I was going to get her. I got her and she was a joy from the start. She wasn’t very friendly to anyone other than me and in fact she tried to bite my boss in the face which made me realize that this was “my dog” and I couldn’t allow her to be around other people.

For years that is the way we lived with my other Lhasa that was 2 years older than Sasha and my two cats which she got along with just fine. I got married and had a baby. My ex-husband convinced me to give her up for adoption. He put a major guilt trip on me and so I thought I was doing the right thing. After he took her to the adoption agency I thought about her every day and a month later I called the pet adoption office and asked about her. They told me that nobody wanted her because she didn’t like kids.

I talked my ex-husband into going back and getting her which we did. I was so happy. She wasn’t upset or anything, she was so happy to be back with me. We moved to Washington State and had an apartment that did not allow dogs so I was not about to give her away so I had to have her boarded for two months. I went to visit but it wasn’t the same.

Finally my ex-husband and I got divorced, I went to pick up Sasha and moved back to Oregon with my daughter. She has been with me since and since she has gotten older and been more exposed to people she has really mellowed out. She has turned out to be a wonderful pet but she always was to me.
She is one of the best things that has ever happened to me and I’ll always love her and will never forget her.

I'll Always Love You Baby Girl,
Sasha
