Scamper by Dawn Rayworth / Dawn & Bristol Air Ambulance Service

This is a poem that I want to dedicate to my Dog Scamper. He was special to everyone and touched a lot of hearts. He died while working at the age of 14. he was a rescue dog and worked with me (I’m a paramedic)I just want to say I miss you, Scamps – and I will always love you.

You meant so much to all of us
You were special and that´s no lie
You brightened up the darkest day
And the cloudiest sky

Your Bark alone warmed hearts
Your Howl was like music to hear
I would give absolutely anything
To have you well and standing near

Not a second passes
When you´re not on our minds
Your love we will never forget
The hurt will ease in time

Many tears I have seen and cried
They have all poured out like rain
I know that you are happy now
And no longer in any pain.

Well! I’ve seen man go to courageous death In the air, on sea, on land! But only a dog would spend his breath In a kiss for his murderer’s hand. And if there’s no heaven for love like that, For such four-legged fealty-well! If I have any choice, I tell you flat, I’ll take my chance in hell.

I’m sorry we couldn’t do anything else we tried and I hope you know that we love you boy.

Thinking of you,
Scamper
