Sissy by Anna

Dear Sissy

I want you to know how much we all miss you and we think of you often. I hope you can hear us speak of you like whispers traveling to heaven. I think I finally figured out why it hurts so bad to go through the death of one you love. At least I hope so. I hope it is because you were able to take all of the love we have for you with you to heaven. This does explain the feeling of emptiness we are left with. I also know you are not missing us since time moves so much faster in heaven. From your perspective by the time you have a chance to turn around to look for us we will be right there coming across the bridge behind you. I have had people ask me why to bother with getting a dog after all they are just tragedies waiting to happen. We all know that if we are lucky we will surely outlive our pets.

So to get a puppy is to ensure yourself of the loss of that pet at the end of their short life. I really feel sorry for those people for they will never know the joy of “puppy breath” or get sideswiped by a sneaky doggy kiss to know that no matter how crappy life may seem sometimes that there is always someone waiting at home who loves you (albeit uncontrollably sometimes) and is counting every breath until you get there be forced against their better judgement and good sense to appreciate the heavy smell and glorious feeling of a warm summer rain or the invigorating bite of a frosty winter wind because “someone” needs to GO POTTY. Sending you home hurts even still more than I can say but what you added to my life was worth every bit of it and I would do it again in a heartbeat just for the opportunity of knowing you.

So Sissy I say goodbye and I love you. Take care of Odis when he gets there for I fear he will be joining you soon. Oh and Sissy…..if there are any cars in heaven would you please stay out of their way until we can get there???

Love forever and always
