Socks by Bill, Carrie & Annie Henry / Daddy, Mommy & Annie

In loving memory of Socks Stribling Henry,
who exceeded expectations in everything she was.

The watcher at the window,
and the speed-bump on the kitchen floor.
Who knew what she wanted,
and didn’t care who she had to bite to get it.
The killer of moles, dinosaurs and Evil Fish,
and Protector of Annie and all things she held dear.
Who tolerated two generations of children
and three generations of crazy dogs.
The silent presence at night,
and town crier at five in the morning.
Who basked in the sunlight until her last breath,
and whose hair will forever be present on our clothes.
Lover of bologna, tuna, and a good brushing,
trusted foot-warmer and companion…

…through laughter and tears, and many long years. We love you, Slug. Rest in Peace, sweet kittles…we’ll see you on the other side.
