Spot by Danzer

Spot my 2nd cat.

A Euology

Spot was an Angora queen. Got her at a week or two old. Eyes closed. So tiny. White w/ a black and brown mark on her ear and 1 large freckle of black on a hind paw/looked like a bit of mud caught in her toes.

Her mother and siblings were beaten to death by a small child. She lived. We’d been promised another. Got her by default. Lifesaving was up to mom as I was a baby in kindegarten myself.

She was my childhood friend. Her and comic books. Gave me a scar I can barely find today. So old half has disappeared w/ time. I vividly remember her giving it to me.

We lived over an old saloon (daddy’s girl’s favorite/another story). My room had been a kitchen at the turn of the century when it was new. Was climbing high above my head onto the counter top for my clothes.

She had a litter and was pretty young herself. A male screamed his yowl at the back door beside me. Got a scratch ~ 5 inches along my calf. She was more tempermental w/ dogs than any pitbull is rumored to have been. Would leap onto the back of any that she’d find in her yard. Digging deep w/ claws and feet she’d ride them down the block. They never came back a 2nd time.

Once we moved and she forgot where the new place was. Gone for days. cried buckets I did. Then when she followed me home from the corner grocery store after school one afternoon I cried again. Happy tears don’t have salt. Did ya know that?

When we adopted a terrier in her old age she babysat frisky. Taught that dog how to mama so well the dog stole puppies all her life. We’d spayed her so she hadda steal to get ’em. poor baby! They used to play tag and chase tennis balls together. Only dog Spot ever tolerated. Dare I say loved?

Spot died at the then ripe old age of 13 years. Had a stroke while I was at a prayer meeting one sunday nite. I cried for ages and ages. Still cry once in awhile. Only now there’s several others so it takes a few minutes.

There’s canines and felines in my cadre of animals. When I get to that Rainbow Bridge I’ll have to sit down in the grass fast before they bowl me down the hills like a new puppy who’s not got his legs under her yet.

Honor guards will do that to ya.
It’ll be so nice.
