Cockapoo
My Susie was born August 15 1985 and came to live with me when
she was 6 weeks old. She was all black half cocker spaniel and half poodle.
We had 15 truly wonderful years together. You might say we were “joined at the hip”.
She could tell me anything without speaking! Our favorite time was bedtime.
She would jump in bed next to me and we would cuddle and kiss for a while
then she would put her head on the pillow next to me and go to sleep.
She never left my side for very long. One of her sweetest things was to
peek around the corner particularly if I was in the kitchen.
She did love treats!
She was always very healthy and active and never had any
health problem until she was 15 years old.
She was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in her mouth and no
alternative other than putting her to sleep.
This is absolutely the hardest thing I ever did. I always promised her I
would be with her at the end and I was. I never lost a child
but I’m sure this is what it would feel like.
She is buried at Toothacres Cemetery in Dallas Texas and has a
large statue of St. Francis of Assisi on her grave along with several animals
to guard over her.
I still can’t talk or think about her without crying because I loved her so much.
I know I will see her again in Heaven and look forward to that wonderful day.
I called her my precious angel and she is truly that today.
I have two “grandcats” who come to visit for two or three weeks quite often.
This helps ease the pain to have something sweet to love on!
