For those of you who knew my cat Thumbs, I wanted to let you know that he has passed on. I came home Sunday night from the store and found him laying in my driveway next to the garage. I don’t know if someone hit him or what. He was unmarked so I’ll don’t really know what happened to him.
Since I’ve lived here in Helena, Thumbs has always been on my answering machine saying Hi to all of you. Usually cats don’t have much of a personality, but for those of you who knew Thumbs, you know he was something different! Thumbs got along so good with my dog Yeager, that they would often hang together, whether it was playin’ in the front yard, or sackin’ up for the night, Thumbs and Yeager were best of friends. Just last night, I threw a chewy down for Yeager, and Thumbs grabbed it in his mouth and took off into the other room with it just to mess around.
(he couldn’t eat them)
No matter where I went, Thumbs was there. Upstairs or downstairs, he would follow close behind to whatever room I was headed to. Usually when I’m writing emails like this one, he would always be up on top of the chair I am sitting in. Not anymore. I woke up every morning with Thumbs at the end of the bed. When I would feed the fish, he would be there to get his share of the flakes as well. (don’t ask, I never figured that one out) Everyday, coming home from work, he was always running up to greet me. (he knew my car or something) When he wanted in, he would climb the screen door just enough to look through the little window in the door to get my attention.
Some of you may find it kind of funny getting an email like this from Casey, but I have a soft spot in my heart for animals, and Thumbs was a huge piece of the little family I’ve have out here in Montana.
Thanks for your time-
..and Thumbs
