I remember driving with my husband and two daughters and I made the remark that the next pet I get will be a pug. We decided to stop at Wendy’s which is rare because our normal hang out for fast food was the Sonic. My husband asked where do I want to eat which is not unusual. But on that particular day, I told him Wendy’s.
We went inside and ate. When we came back out, there was a family setting up a playpen under a shady tree and a sign “Pugs for sale”. My family just looked at me because of the remark I made right before eating at Wendy’s about the next pet I get will be a pug. I couldn’t resist. I had to see the pugs. We got a lot of puppy love that day. I remember my mother-in-law followed us to Wendy’s, but I can’t remember why. Anyway, she met us there for lunch. When we were all looking at the pugs and I decided to buy one, she said don’t get the runt because they are usually not the healthiest of the bunch. Those weren’t her exact words, but you get the jest of what she said. I didn’t listen. I fell in love with the runt. Tiki has brought happiness to our family ever since that special day. She began what I call “pug fever”.
I’ve gotten two more pugs.
My Tiki’s passing came unexpected and I am still mourning her death. She wasn’t even two years old. I miss her so much. It really gets to me when the house is silent. She use to follow me around, my tiny little shadow. She was a big part of my life and still is in spirit.
Tiki, when I am not crying, please don’t think I’ve forgotten you because I haven’t. You’re in my thoughts constantly. I only put up a front to conceal my pain temporarily so I can take care of the family and pets. Your nephews and nieces are growing beautifully.
I know you were so curious about the pups when they were born one week before you passed away. Lulu is a good mama to them and Tator is very gentle with them. You know they would have loved to have known you. Save me a place in heaven little angel.
I love you and miss you soooo much!
Love Always,
