Tray by Shari Holcomb / Momma

Missing One of my Texas Three:

You, my baby puppy Tray
used Heaven’s Doggie Door today…
You were my oldest loving puppy one
For you though, the setting sun has come.
I will remember you with gladness and cheer
for every one of your almost 18 years.
Once my long crying time is done…

Though they be not mine
I know you are in God’s good hands
and God, I am trying here not to make demands
and I am trying my level best not to whine
but you made me just a Human mere
and not a loving puppy one
I wasn’t really ready for this you see…
So, it is harder for me to sit and cheer
That you have called my puppy away from me
So that you could hold him near…

God reminds me in his log of the Son
That my time for Heaven is not quite here
And on Earth, my turn it is to stay and wait
Until I can see you again my puppy one.
Fret not, God gave me 2 more doggie angels near
so that my heart will not quite break.
