Xena by Yvonne & Fay Moses / Mommy, Momma, Shawn, Annie & Miranda

I first picked up Xena in a McDonald’s parking lot where we met the person we purchased her from. I fell in love at first sight. On the way home with her she got car sick all over me. I knew she was perfect. I got her home and watched her check out her new surroundings.

She picked up on her name and the command to come the first day. She was very smart and very loving. We brought her everywhere. She was my baby. She loved the river, we took there when Fay would go fishing. Even as she got older and started getting arthritis, when she was at the river she was like a puppy, throwing sand and jumping in the water.

She saved my life one time at the river. Never really seen what was behind me when I decided to use the restroom behind a bush. She followed me as usual, alway by my side. Sat in front of me while I did my business, felt something behind me, she started growling and before I could turn around she lurched and chased after it.

Whatever it was, was big. Cougar, bear, will never know. She would protect our house and our children. A faithful dog as there ever was. I alway knew when I went out of the house she was not far. I miss her greatly and it has only been a day. Someone shot her, probably doing her job. Turned it in, so mad that someone could take part of my family away from us. I do not know how to handle the emptiness and pain.

I know she is still watching over us, like she always has. I have two twin girls who miss her and loved her too. I had her for 7 short years and will never forget her. Each of the family has their own special memories of her and miss her so much. Will never be able to replace such a special dog, my baby.

With so much love, Miss you,
Xena
