We first fell in love with Freckles at the mall pet shop during a Christmas shopping excursion with the kids in December of 1992. I think we all saw her at the same time. You couldn’t miss her. I truly believe she was the cutest puppy in the kennel that night. We were offered an opportunity to hold and pet her, which of course, my kids jumped at. She looked at us with these beautiful, soulful eyes, licked the faces of my two young girls and the rest is history.
Freckles quickly went from family pet to family member. She loved opening her toys and treats at Christmas with the family. She loved celebrating her August 16th birthday with balloons that she bounced off her nose, and looked forward to blowing out the candle
in her twinkie cupcake.
Year after year, memory after memory, the bond between us grew so unbelievably strong that we could never picture life without Freckes right beside us. Unfortunately, this past year, we had to witness her health decline so rapidly. I know now that she is no longer in pain or sadness and although I miss her terribly my hope is that she has crossed over to a place of peace and serenity where she is happy and playful again. I know that she loved us as much as we loved her and that her presence in our lives has touched us like
a paw print on our hearts forever.
