Golden Retriever
Our Golden Retriever Autumn came into our lives February of 1996.
I went to choose a puppy from the litter and Autumn came running up to me
licking my hand and playing. I knew she was just for us!
Over the past 5 years she has given us so much love patience care
and affection unlike any dog I’ve ever seen.
It was a Friday when Autumn vomited Saturday she wouldn’t eat anything
and laid around all day. It was difficult to get her to come upstairs at
night like she usually did.
Sunday came and we took her to the emergency vet when
she still wasn’t eating and was obviously very weak.
My husband had to carry her to the car.
After hours of tests surgery and 3 blood transfusions they sent
her home the following day with instructions and medications.
At 2:00pm on that Monday Autumn was laying on a blanket and
started acting even weaker.
I knew she was worsening by the minute.
Our other Golden Retriever snuggled up right next to Autumn
and licked her face as she never had before.
IT was beautiful to see this rambunctious dog be so gentle and tender with
her aching and dying sister. I took a few photos to capture the moment,
thank god because it was only minutes later when Autumn
started to slip away.
I laid on the floor with Autumn and told her everything I wanted to
say (I love you and so does everybody around you!)
I must have said it 100 times.
I held Autumn until she took her last breath and her heart
stopped beating.
It was the saddest day of my life watching my much loved,
beautiful patient affectionate extraordinary remarkable
Autumn go to heaven.
I will never forget you Autumn thank you for all the memories and
I’m sorry that cancer took you away from us.
I love you my golden girl and so does Daddy Amber Sophie
and Aunt Angie!
Bye………………………
