Black Lab

Today is April 28,2001.

As I sit here writing this letter I am crying for our dog and for my husband.

Blackie came into our lives in 1990. My husband and I had broke up as

boyfriend and girlfriend . I moved back into my trailer in my parents yard.

It had been rented to some young coupe who moved and couldn’t

take him with them. I said I would keep him till they could come get him.

Well my husband and I got back together and got married.

Blackie took to Jimmy right away. We also had a dog named Buddy

who passed away in 1996. They became sister and brother.

These two dogs love to ride. Buddy was my dog and Blackie

was Jimmy’s dog. Blackie went everywhere with him.

Jimmy would go to a local Moose Lodge every Monday and this dog

knew when it was Monday. It’s like he counted the days till it was time to go.

He would sit in the truck and jump from the back to the front.

Jimmy would keep checking on him. He stayed right with that truck.

Sometimes they would open the kitchen door and Blackie would sneak

in and sit next to his Daddy. One day my husband rolled his truck

and Blackie was right there with him. Both were fine.

Jimmy got a new job and his days off changed.

Blackie was a little confused but he adjusted.

As time went on we got another Black Lab.

This dog was suppose to be my dog. Well sure enough she became Jimmy’s

dog and Blackies best friend. They were both getting up in age and didn’t go

riding as much as they used to. Not to worry they still rode with Daddy.

Well Blackie started getting sick . We found out he had a tumor in his neck.

At night he would breath very hard. He sounded like he would not

make the night. My husband and I talked it over and decided we couldn’t

let him go on like this. So Sunday Daddy took him for a ride.

Just the two of them. They came home and Blackie Katie Angel the cat

Mommie and Daddy hung out in garage.

Monday Jimmy called me at work and said the vet couldn’t do no

more for him. We both come home and we all stayed in the garage

till it was time to go to vet. He had ice cream and cookies. His favorites.

We talked to him telling him we Loved him and brushed him rubbed his ears

kissing him petting him. We left and took him for his final ride.

We took him in both us crying. As he laid on the table we told him

we loved him and he was going to go be with god.

We both holding him and petting him. He was looking at me and then he

slowly put his head down and he was in Heaven.

He hurts no more but we hurt so much.

We carried him to the front seat of truck.

Rubbing his lifeless body.

We were with him till the end.

He will always be in our Hearts forever.
