Blue by Bethany / Bethany

I’m not sure when we got Blue the parakeet, but we didn’t have him for long. In fact, only about 1 1/2 years or less. He was a nice bird. He let us pet his tummy and he sat on our hand. He loved to be outside, so one day we took him out to have his cage cleaned. Well, we forgot to put baggie ties on the latches, and somehow he pushed the door open and flew away. My mom went in to call my dad. All I could do was cry with a little stuffed bird that I use to remember him by. I still have that bird and it’s been 5 or 6 years since he’s flown away. I really don’t know where he is right now. It would be nice to know that he is alive and flying with the wild birds, but I know that isn’t possible.

Meanwhile my great grandma had to go into a nursing home and had to give up her pet parakeet because they didn’t allow pets. She gave him to us. He looks almost like Blue (His name is Willie). Willie is about 7 years old. That is very old for a parakeet.

I think Blue is watching down on us and sent Willie to fill up those years we could have had with him. If that’s you, thank you Blue. Remember to eat well, fly a lot, and play with whoever you can.
I won’t see you for a long time. Wait for me!

Love ya forever!
