Brodie

Dec. 28 1999

My name is Michelle my cat of just 18 months had to

be euthanized on December 28 1999 due to Feline Leukemia.

Brodie was the perfect cat any one could ask for.

He would come running when I or my fiancee would walk in the door.

When we decided to get a cat we check all the newspaper ads and

found one so we went to see if they had one we wanted and sure

enough the man did.

We were looking at Brodie’s sister and when I went to

pick the other kitten up Brodie put his paw on my shoe and

I knew that he was the one I was going to bring home.

So we really didn’t pick him out Brodie picked us out as

his parents. We brought him home and he slept with us

and was by our side all the time he went every

where with us.

We took Brodie to get his shots and didn’t even think to get

a blood test done for that horrible disease.

I took him back to the vet when we got to West Virginia to get

the rest of his shots and still no blood test.

So we got him declawed and neutered.

After we got him declawed we noticed that he wasn’t the same.

Brodie was a very hyper cat was running to jump and bite you in

the butt and attacking you as you would go up the stairs.

But we thought that something was wrong with his tail because

he just let hang and when you would go to touch it he

would meow because it hurt.

So Steve and I took him to the vet on Monday December 27 1999

and the vet did a blood test and of course it came

back positive for Feline Leukemia.

The Dr. said he had for a while and he didn’t have much

time to live he told us that we could do little fixes to make him feel

a little better but he was to far gone.

So we brought him home that night and he slept with us,

when Brodie would get up I would get up with him.

I cried so much that night and to this day I cry like a baby.

Steve and I took Brodie to the vet on Tuesday December 28 1999

to be euthanized.

I have to say that it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

I cried all the way to vet and cried all the way home.

I held Brodie when he took his last breath and then we brought

him home for burial. I go to see my little boy every day.

I put flowers on his grave so that he knows that I love him.

I know that it will get better but Brodie will always

be my “first little boy”.

Thank you for allowing me to share this with you

and I pray that if you ever get a cat you get it

tested for this horrible disease.

God Bless you all,

Michelle Waschle & Steve Jurasko
