This letter is for

Smokey Lexy Spartacus Hulky Sunny Bunny and Tasha.

On October 9 1998 there was a terrible flood

here in Kansas City. It was a very panicked situation.

I’m gathering my daughter my boyfriend loaded up the

cats in a big cat carrier and a few others helped get us out of here.

We were almost there…..almost to safety. In one big rush water came

from no where.

My boyfriend who had the cats was swept away to the backyard.

Then I was swept away…..in an instant my life changed.

As I’m hanging on a tree I see my daughter she is safe.

But no boyfriend no cats. I then hear a noise I see him Eddie safe……

he is screaming crying the cats are gone! I can’t find them!

The next morning we go back to the same area hoping to see

something anything. We do 1 small baby of mine Smokey was her name,

my smallest baby. She looked so peaceful she died quickly.

No one else was found.
