Venus came into my life at the very young age of 7 weeks. She was the cutest thing that I had ever laid eyes on. I had many pets growing up and Venus certainly wasn’t my first dog, but there was just something special about her. She was the most well behaved puppy and was always eager to please. She loved to go to my parent’s farm and play with all the animals there.
Venus thought that ducks, geese, and chickens were put on this earth just for her running enjoyment. She only chased them, never tried to harm them. She had her routines in life. Venus would greet me every day at the door with one of her babies (the newest stuffed animal she acquired). When she was told it was “night night time” she would grab her baby and head to my son’s bed. She liked to have the shade by the door raised so she could keep an eye on the neighborhood happenings. Her favorite perch was the black leather recliner.
I think she choose that chair because she felt like she could nap and no one would find her. She was a black Lab and blended right in. Times that I walked right by looking for her, I could swear that she had a grin on her face. I will sorely miss these things. I feel so fortunate to have had this beautiful animal in my life. I didn’t take care of her, she took care of me.
With love
