This tribute is for a stray cat that we named Tommy. He began to hang around our house in August. He was just a kitten. We didn’t know where he came from but just thought the man on the corner had another cat. Tommy started to come around and stay and the love for all animals that I have, I started to feed him can food for kittens and mixing it with kitten chow. He came around every morning and evening to eat. He was the sweetest kitten I had ever met.
We took pictures of him and put them on line and I sent it to everyone I knew on line to find him a home. We all wanted to keep him but with dogs that were not too fond of cats and no basement we were at a loss. Two months went by and Tommy had toys outside to play with. I was in a panic to find him a home because here in Chicago the winters our brutal and where would he stay. I knew if it came down to it we would do something to take him in when it was cold.
On October 2, 2004 my daughter said that her friend at school and her mom seen the picture of Tom and wanted to see him and most likely to take him home to a good home and another cat. The next day October 3, 2004 our neighbors who were also feeding and loved this little cat came and knocked on our door.
Tommy had been hit by a car and was still alive but in dire pain. I called the 911 vet and took him there. We all knew that our little Tommy was going to leave us. He was in so much pain and had such bad injuries it was better for him to be put to sleep. This little kitten was wagging his tail while we were waiting for the doctor to put him down. He wagged his tail while getting the medicine and I petting him. I wanted him to know that he was loved because he was and that we couldn’t let him suffer. I told him to go to the bridge and Thank You for bringing such joy to our lives for even just a short time.
Thank You Tommy for bringing your love and fun personality to us. Shamis looked for you for two weeks after you left us.
We all loved you and miss you.
