Cinder by Paige Tilton / Your Mommy, Paige

Dear Cinder,

Dr. Seuss once said, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” Through my tears I am smiling now.

I am smiling, thinking of the day I got you. You climbed into the fireplace and came out all covered in soot – which is how I named you. That day I knew you were the kitty for me, as you lay in my arms limp, content, and trusting.

I am smiling, thinking of you drinking out of the pottie like the big dogs do, of the cute little chirps and other sounds you made when you “talked” to me, of you stalking me around the house like a wild, ferocious beast, of the kids carying you around the house, and of the funny placing you liked to sleep and the strange positions you slept in.

I am smiling, thinking of the cute way you greeted eveyone with a head butt, of you greeting me each day when I got home, and of you incredibly docile and trusting spirit.

You loved me and you loved life.

I often ask myself what I did to deserve you; how did I get so lucky to have you? I feel so blessed and I thank God above that he blessed me with you, even if it wasn’t for as long as I had hoped. I am so thankful to have had you in my life. I am thankful for the day when we will meet again. I know that you are keeping my chair warm for me in Heaven right now.

My sweet “Kitty-Luv”, thank you! Thank you for loving me and for being my best friend each day we spent together. Thank you for the warm snuggles, and for the comfort in times of sadness or worry. Thank you for making life so much fun! What a fabulous journey we had together! Thank you!

I miss you so much and I look forward to seeing you again in our palace in Heaven.

I love you "Squishy Face!"
Cinder
