Poodle

For weeks I had seen this tattered and raggedy dog

run the streets I had tried many times to coax her to the car but

she would run from me into the brush.

The day finally came when Coco had barely dodged a car..

Surely I thought she had been hit!!

She Scampered onto the side of the road I could see the fear in her

barely visible eyes.. I jumped from my vehicle and began to chase her down

it was not an easy task.. getting her into my car she was dirty matted smelly ,

and very skinny!! I immediately carried her home found the scissors

and began to cut away the tangled mess.

Underneath I found much to my surprise a beautiful little brown toy poodle..

Then came the task of bathing her she must have had years of grunge built

up on her skin…

Maggie my little baby whom is also a toy poodle ran to her and

gave her a look over. I think she passed inspection with her they became

very close instantly.. I some how had a feeling Maggie had let her know

she was safe here!! It wasn’t quite so easy for me however

for weeks she kept her distance; Coco would cower every time I tried to

pet her or even get close to her.. She had evidentially been from an abusive

home before she began a life on the streets..

But I continued to work with her gaining her confidence was a

day to day process.. Finally one day came when I picked her up and held

her close to me and said “You have come to a safe place nothing nor no

one will ever harm you again I love you as if you were my own..

well I guess now you are.” and somehow I know she understood

she laid her head on my shoulder and made a loud and deep sigh..

and from that day on she never cowered or ran from me again..

As the months and years went on Coco developed a very unique and

wonderful personality she was quite a show girl…

She would dance and do funny things to get my attention.

Last year she left me for an eternal home but we will meet again..

I am looking forward to the little funnies again!!!!

You were lost and found and you were loved for

Six years and now missed!!
