Cuppie

Remembering I was not thrilled when my sister who had recently

moved in with us brought along four feline friends.

I have two dogs of my own and I did not want an animal

farm in my new home.

As time passed I became rather fond of one cat imparticular

his name was Korey. He was a 4 month old polydactyl and was just

the sweetest thing you ever saw.

My husband gave him the name “Cuppie ” after determining if you

mate a cat and dog you get cuppies.

Now he was a special little guy who licked my face while I slept

chased my 7 pound dog around the house and purred loud enough

to be heard upstairs while he was sleeping on the couch.

He loved to play with his older brother Kahluah and was always happy.

One night last week my sister and I were making dinner when “Cuppie”

came in the kitchen. My sister picked him up and was loving him

talking in his ear and laughing.

She placed him on the ground where he then followed us in the living room.

As he attempted to jump on the couch my sister noticed his hind

leg was shaking suddenly he fell backwards and landed on the ground

unconscious. We had no idea what was going on.

My sister was crying as my husband tried CPR but it was to late.

He was gone. We all sat in disbelief crying and trying to

figure out what went wrong. In less than a minute he was just gone.

The vet thinks he may have had an aneurysm or maybe a seizure.

Nothing that could be prevented.

My sister and I buried him in a brightly colored box with pictures of

his brother and 2 sisters some catnip and blankets and a few toys.

He lies in peace in my mother’s backyard where my sister can go visit him.

In the short time I knew him I fell in love.

He was my little cuppie and I will miss him very much.

Sometimes I think I can hear his purr but I know he

is in a better place.
