Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again (Revised)

My Sweet Daisy Cat,

You were once my one companion,
You were part of all that mattered.
You were once my best friend,
Then my world was shattered.

Wishing you were somehow here again,
Wishing you were somehow near.
Sometimes it seemed, if I just dreamed
Somehow you would be here…

Wishing I could hear your sounds again,
Knowing that I never would.
Dreaming of you won’t help me to do,
All that I dreamed we could.

Passing bells and sculpted angels
Graveyards cold and monumental,
Seem for you the wrong companions,
You were warm and gentle…

Facing many years, fighting back tears
Why can’t the past just die…

Wishing you were somehow here again
Knowing we must say goodbye.
Trying to forgive, teach me to live,
Give me the strength to try.

Seeing you in memories, no more silent tears,
Always gazing back to the happy years.
Help me say goodbye for now,
Help me know we’ll meet again, sweet girl.

(From Phantom of the Opera-Revised)

We'll not say good-bye, really.
We'll catch up at the bridge.
