Dakota by Jasmine / Jasmine

Walking by many kennel of dogs, I stopped at a kennel with this big, sad looking dog. He was black with white markings on his paws and nose. Dakota looked very sad and I didn’t want him to be like that for the rest of his life. So I asked my dad if we could take him home and he agreed.

Few months of eating, sleeping, loving, and growing… DAKOTA was living a happy life with me! I walked him to the park, I played ball with him, and I even slept with him in his kennel. People were scared of him because he was so big but if they got to know like I did,
he’s harmless and loving.
In the month of December, DAKOTA started to get sick. We took him to the vet and they didn’t know what was wrong with him. My parents decided to have him stay at the vet until he got better but after a few weeks there was no progress.

The vet told my dad that it would be better if DAKOTA stayed home with us and spent as much time needed before… The day before New Year’s Eve came and DAKOTA was running about like when he was a puppy.
I played with him all day and we were both happy!!
New Year’s Eve came and DAKOTA got more sick and this time he couldn’t even stand up. My parents took him to the vet to see what was wrong. I had to stay home and watch my neice. A few hours passed and finally my parents came home. I ran outside to see my dog but when I went to the car, he wasn’t there. My mom said that when they reached the vet’s office, he wouldn’t stand and
then all of a sudden he closed his eyes and that was it. I cried!
Even though I lost a best friend,
he will always be in my heart forever….
I LOVE YOU DAKOTA!!!!!

Your Best Friend,
Dakota
