You lived at a shelter for the last month or two
Emerson I promise I will not forget you
You were brought here with cancer and little hope
Though your days were numbered,
you didn’t whine or mope.
You filled our hearts with love and joy
Emerson you’ll always be my little shelter boy
You were young and not weak.
But, your future looked quite bleak.
I visited you every day.
And every time I’d come to play,
You’d greet me and await a chicken praise.
I wish you had many more days!
With Love Always,
