Erin by Denise and David / Mommy and Daddy

To Our Little Princess, Erin…

The day Mommy Shirley brought you to mom and dad’s house, to show you off, you were so beautiful. Your little ears stood at attention and you knew what you wanted to do, be independent. When Mommy Shirley found out she didn’t have much more time on Earth, she decided to give you to me, your new mommy. I thank Mommy Shirley for letting me have the most wonderful 12 years with you. Misty, your new mommy, and you lived with my mom and dad at first. You let Misty know that you were going to be mine, like she was. Eventually, you and Misty got along cuddling and spending everyday together.
You met daddy in early 1993, and you and he formed a bond that can only be between you and him. We moved in March of 1994, and mommy, daddy, Misty, and our little Erin became a family. We would move many times before mommy and daddy bought a home in 2000. You continued to be independent, but loved to “nuzzle nuzzle” with mommy and daddy. You and Misty would lay together cuddled up in your blankies. Mommy and daddy called you “little princess” because of your little stride when you would walk and your head was held so high. When guests would come into the house, you would greet them and then go about your day, unless it was grandma or Stephanie. You loved sitting beside grandma in your chair. Mommy would try to lift you, but you would wedge yourself in next to grandma, then “plop” out you would come. Stephanie loves you so much. When she came to visit, she would put a blanket in her lap and there you would stay until Steph had to go home. When mommy and daddy was alone with you and Misty, you would lay on mommmy’s “hammock” and go sound to sleep. Daddy would take you and cuddle with you next to his cheek, until our little princess told him otherwise. You were so strong after your stroke, except for a little “Elvis lip” for about 10 minutes after a nap.
Mommy and daddy were so thankful you were here to help us cope through Misty’s passing. We know that your heart broke too! We could see your health start to waver. After three months without your sister, your little heart was too broken to heal. We came to see you at Dr. Kirk’s office and mommy and daddy had to make the right decision for your health. We had to say goodbye.
Mommy and daddy will miss you carrying your food around the house, as though it was your private dining room. We will miss your cuddles and your kisses. When mommy and daddy see you again at the rainbow bridge, remember to “nuzzle nuzzle” and be our little princess. We will always love you and miss you…
