Funnyface was a stray that showed up in my neighborhood. I fed her for a whole year before she would allow me to touch her. She was pregnant with her second litter (that I knew of) so I took her inside and gave her her own room. She was still fairly feral and really didn’t like being locked up, but she dealt with it very well. She gave birth a month later to 6 kittens, one of which died the second day. Funnyface loved her babies and was an excellent mother. They were clean and well fed all the time. She was so happy when she was feeding them. She would purr – the only time I ever heard her purr – and would have her eyes half closed and would knead her paws.
When I took Funnyface to be spayed yesterday (9-27-04) she was tested and found to be FIV+. She had to be euthanized on 9-28-04. This is in memory of her and all the others like her who suffer in silence because
of human neglect and cruelty.
Rest in peace, my poor precious.
