Furball by Camila / Camila

Furball,

I still remember the time when we first met, you were a stray kitten and I felt so sorry for you, and my parents said they didn’t mind a cat in the house, and I had been wanting one for ages! I found the perfect pet, you! The other stray cats didn’t seem to be the tabbys I was after. You were what I was looking for! As soon as I took you home, I cuddled you and started to learn a few cat words.

Your old owner had spayed you. My uncle and some other people came round for my birthday party at home. My uncle was a vet, so he made sure you were a boy. He was meant to know EVERYTHING about animals. I knew you were spayed, but he could not tell you a part from a girl cat! Until we told him we spayed you, he went haywire! Even I knew you were spayed even though I didn’t spay you.

Daddy took pictures of you on my lap and sitting next to me by the pool. I even cuddle the picture of you on my chair and me stroking you. Sometimes I cry when I remember you at school, but Louise still says that you may be gone, but you will always be in my heart. But, she is right, hopefully. I don’t care if you scrached me when I tickled your tummy. We were only young, really.

I can still remember it when you used to stare up at me with your big blue eyes, it meant I was your best friend. You were mine.

I was horrified to find out that you had gone out for a walk at night and got hit by a car and got killed. I cried for so long, that I nearly flooded the room! It was the saddest moment of my life.

My parents didn’t even offer to buy me another cat in replacement.
Well, no cat could replace you that well.

I still have tears in my eyes right now, when I’m writing this letter. I can hardly concentrate at school, especially when I see blue, light brown, grey, brown, dark grey, black and white. I had to wipe off the tears from my paper before my teacher comes to see it. I hope you have a good time in heaven, you brightened up my life, best friend. I love you, bye. See you in heaven, buddy……sniff. Bye even though you are not gone in spirit. Bye, best pal. Love you. See you in heaven, Furball.
Goodbye is not for ever.

With pet shops of love, Buddy.
