This is a ‘welcome to the family’ story.
Jennie came into our lives on the 13th September 2003. I saved her from the animal shelter. I had just signed up to do voluntary work there when I saw her. No one had claimed her, so I did! She was due to be put to sleep on the 12th September.
We don’t know Jennie’s history since she was a stray when the animal shelter found her. She is approx 3 years old, very gentle, affectionate, sweet natured and gives me lots of doggie licks on my face! She has had some training along the way as she ‘sits’,’stays’ and ‘comes’ most times and she is house trained!
Jennie is a good eater and loves her raw meaty bones.
We have decided to make 13th September her birthday, as that is the day she came into our lives.
I believe my doggie angels Polly and Waffle had something to do with Jennie and myself meeting. Another thing, Jennie’s impound number at the shelter was the same number on my driving licence. She was meant for us!
Jennie is NOT replacing Polly and Waffle. She is simply an addition to the family. They knew she would have a loving, happy and spoilt life with us just as we had given them.
We have had Jennie desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and deflead. We gave her a lovely warm hydrobath when we brought her home. She is so soft and loves cuddles and tickles on her tummy. She even ‘talks’ to us.
When she is sleeping on her warm doggie mattress, she sometimes wakes up, looks at us to make sure we’re there, then happily drifts off to sleep again, content she has her loving Mum and Dad with her.
I would love to know Jennie’s history, what her other name was (if in fact she had another name), and why was she a homeless doggie? I guess I will never know.
All I know is, Jennie has found a new home where she will be loved, looked after and spoilt until the day she goes and meets Polly and Waffle at the Rainbow Bridge.
I would also love to thank Polly and Waffle for leading me to Jennie. Continue to watch over us my angels.
