To Kate “Katie” our dearly beloved cat

You came into our house and into our lives 3 years ago as a stray. You loved to sit on the front steps and watch us as we worked outside. One day we opened the door and you decided that this was the place to be and you walked in and took a nap on the couch. We adopted each other and you settled into your new kingdom where you ruled as Queen. We your adoring subjects often disturbed your naps by cuddling you and talking baby-talk to you but I think you understand. You must miss Dad’s “rub-downs” when you would walk directly up to him as he was sleeping on the couch and give him a look that made everyone melt; and meow. He immediately knew what you wanted. He would brush your gorgeous black fur for minutes until you were both happy and content. We will always remember those moments and so many others as long as we live Katie. Already the house mourns your lost presence. In the silence we sometimes expect to hear your medals on your collar jingling as you run up the stairs or in the early mornings your loud pawing at our doors alerting us to your needs. You were only 4 years old when you left us. No other cat or animal will ever take the place you hold in our hearts dear Little One. We will never forget you and your presence although no longer on earth will always be in our hearts and in our memories. God Bless You Kate.
