Lacey by Susan

LACEY

You were my special
little soul
Partner.
We bonded so tightly
Right from the start.
Your eyes were big
Soft puddles of black.
You always got your way
And that is a fact.
On those noisy stormy
Dark nights.
We would snuggle up close
And never feel fright.
You whisked all
my lonely—ness
Far away.
Next morning you would nudge me
To begin another day.
You brought me so much
Love and cheer.
I thought we would have
Many long years.
I tried to protect you
And keep you from harm.
Yet your life slipped away
As I held you gently in my arms.

I love you and miss you Lacey!
