German Shepherd
This is the story of my best friend.
A true friend indeed because she was always giving an never
asking for anything in return but my love.
HER STORY IS TUFF TO TELL FOR THE TEARS ARE FALLING
FROM MY EYES AN FROM MY HEART.
I didn’t have many friends as a child but I always admired those who
had someone to talk to and play games with.
One morning I went to work with my dad at the gas station .
We keep hearing a crying noise outside we went around the back
and found someone had thrown away a litter of puppies like trash
from the floor of a car. Saddly all of them had sufficated in the
plastic bag but one normal looking German shepherd puppy.
It was weak from lack of food an also lack of air.
My dad got the puppy and took it into the station an laid it on a
old blanket in the shelf behind the counter.
He looked down at me and asked if I would like to have a puppy.
An of course how tuff it will be to feed and care for her.
I looked at this little animal an something in my heart knew that
the only possible answer to the question was YES.
It was tuff work for a 6yrs old boy but as the days, weeks and years
went by I have never regretted the answer to that question.
She always was there when I need an ear to tell secrets or a
friend in the every aspect of the word.
I quess I took for granted all the years of her being here and
all the times I had to chase her off my bed so I could go to sleep.
Then in middle of the nite she would lay beside me and I felt safe.
All was right with me till this past March I a woke to nothing .
I got dressed for work as usual and filled her water bowl and set
out her food as I have done for these past 20 yrs.
I went to the back door and called her name over an over an over
but no response no LADY.
I went outside to see where she was I could not see her
anywhere an as I headed back to the house I heard a crying
noise from under the house. I stood there terrified of what I was
about to see but I had to see if it was her.
There rolled out was my friend my LADY I called her she just laid
there so I crawled under the house work clothes and all to reach
her just in time to see her take her last breath and close her
eyes for ever. I laid under there for hours crying and begging her
not to leave me not to say good-bye.
I took her remains and buried her in our family cemetery
because you see LADY was family.
I still hear her barking at the birds and feel her laying beside
me in the night so you see she hasn’t said good-bye
just farewell till we meet again.
