Lady was just a few weeks old when my daughter brought her home from the flea market. She was the last one of a litter a dealer was trying to sell, so he let my daughter have her for free just to get rid of her. She went through a lot that first year. She survived parvo and that same year she was hit by a car which broke her leg. We had to have her leg amputated, but she could outrun our other dogs.
As she got older she started having seizures and I would always sit down with her and talked to her until she would come out of them. My daughter married and moved out and I kept Lady. She was the one to meet me at the back gate when I came home from work. The night I lost her I had gotten off work at 10:00. She was laying out in the yard and did not move. She had been attacked by my son’s dog which was also in the yard and was seriously injured. I took her to the emergency clinic that night. It was so hard to have to put her to sleep. I was so heartbroken that I cried the rest of the night.
I cry for her every day, but she died knowing that I loved her.
love you always
