Mr. Worf

Worf was my best friend.  He would come sit in my lap every day and just purr.  He would talk to me.  I’m not sure of all he was saying to me, but I do know that some of it was that he loved me.  And I loved him so very much.

I had Worf for every moment of his life.  His mama was one of my cats and I remember the night he was born.  Lily kept coming to get me between the birth of each kitten.  Worf was the second kitten to be born that night.  He was a beautiful little one.

He was a devil kitten.  He loved to chew on things, especially my shoe laces.  He never did outgrow the habit of chewing on things and he used to try to chew on my crucifix.  I never let him get away with that though.

Worf was with me through several moves.  From one place in Montana to another and then to Kansas.  Then to a couple of other places in Kansas.  Finally to Sabetha, which has been our home for the past two years.

Worf had attitude.  He was royalty and he knew it.  He never let me forget that, and he never let the other cats forget it either.  He carried himself like the king that he was.

Worf loved me.  He let me know he loved me by sitting with me, by listening to me, by always wanting to be by my side.  He loved to steal my pillow every night.  He would gradually push my head off the pillow until morning when I woke up I had no pillow and he had the entire thing – stretched out regally.

I can’t tell you how much I loved Worf.  He always listened.  He was always there for me, especially when I was lonely.  I’ve had many great cats, but Worf was very, very special.  He will always have a special place in my heart.

I had to put him to sleep today at 4:45.  He had gotten very sick and there was nothing more to do for him.  I stayed with him and kissed him goodbye.  I know he is at peace now.

I love you Worf.  I’ll never forget you.  I hope I see you again someday.  Thanks for loving me and being my best friend for all these years.

I love you forever
Worfie
