Dog
What a wonderful dog.
He was my son’s “brother”.
They played together and grew up together.
Tyler was 5 when Nuke came to live with us.
They wrestled and played keep away with a tennis ball
almost every day.
Nuke was stolen from our house
in August 1993 when someone broke in.
We were heart broken and a trip to Disney World didn’t help
Tyler get over his grief.
One cold dark morning in November of the same year
I heard scratching on the door…opened it and in ran Nuke.
He had found his way home from wherever he had been.
(He never divulged his location).
It was as though he had never been gone.
His personality was intact as were the fleas
he brought home with him
that didn’t matter as long as we had him back.
In June of 1994 we moved into a new house and
brought home Zelda.
She was Nuke’s little one to watch over.
And he did. He was protector to her as well as the kids.
We added an addition to the family this year
in the way of a little sister to Tyler who is now 17 and Karli 12.
Kaitlyn was born in April just 6 weeks before Nuke died.
He laid on the bed with the baby and
made sure she was taken care of.
He was the most even tempered goofy wonderful loving animated dog
I have ever been blessed to know.
I wish everyone would know a “Nuke”
he brought happiness to my life every day.
Even when he tore things up ran the neighborhood for hours
peed in the house and dug up my plants.
All of that is secondary to love
he brought into our lives and left with us.
He is missed every day.
