O.C.

This is in memory of a little guy who was not

with us for very long.

We have three inside only cats and a dog.

But any cats that come along outside we try to make

their lives a little easier.

A neighbor brought home a little kitten (about 6 weeks old)

and left it outside.

We named him O.C. (for orange cat). He migrated to our house

as we were feeding another stray kitten.

An ad was placed in the paper to find a good home for the stray,

but since O.C. had a collar we assumed he had a home.

After we found the stray a good home O.C. continued to visit daily.

We came to enjoy his visits and looked forward to him

waiting on the porch for us to appear.

We also continued to feed him daily.

As we watched O.C. grow we grew to love him.

At the same time we found out that our home was sold and

we would be moving.

The people that were to buy our home visited one day

and met O.C. The woman promptly fell in love with him and

promised to feed him. This eased our minds a bit as we

had recently found out that O.C.’s “owners” weren’t feeding him.

We had brought O.C. into the house a few times to meet the

other “kids” which caused an awful lot of hissing and

he preferred to remain outside.

One day O.C. wasn’t waiting on the porch.

Then one day turned to two. Then to three days.

Our 12 year old asked the neighbors child if he had seen O.C.

and this is how we found out that this sweet playful

silly little cat had been fatally hit by a car.

This broke our hearts.

The pain that we have all experienced makes me feel

that we certainly would have missed him a great deal

after we moved. I know that we would have come back

and had him declawed and fixed so that he would be

able to join our other cats inside.

The most awful part is that O.C. was only with us for

four months.

We all still miss him dearly and we want someone to know

that he was on this earth and was loved.
