Pipkin had been through so much in his short life, rejected by his family by having a chunk taken out of his ear after being castrated, then he fell 12ft from the stairs and injured his back legs. We brought him through this, and his legs recovered.
However there was an infection in one (probably from urine scalding before he got his nerves back) which was healing just fine until I found him the other day with his leg ripped open to the bone. He needed it amputated, the vet said there was not much chance of him pulling through the anaesthetic because of his weakened state but I wanted to try anyway. The vet was amazed how he had made it through and he came home the next day to begin the recovery process. Sadly he did not make it, two days after the operation despite his continued improvement he died peacefully in his sleep.
I think it was just too much for him, poor little guy. He was always my friendliest chin, would always enjoy a cuddle, came running over to the door of his home when you passed and would always bark at night when the light was turned out.
So sadly missed, never forgotten. Pipkin
