Miniature Schnauzer

(I’ve already written a poem and a tribute on this site and

enrolled my Princess Anne Brewster in the Candlelight Rose Ceremony.

In this “Story” section I wish to remember some lighter times I shared with my Princess)

One funny story I recall is when Brutus (our Boston Terrier) used to come

into my room and grab my bra and run into the back yard with it.

When I would go out after him Princess would run out too and grab the

other end of the bra. They looked so funny each pulling

one end like a slingshot.

Another funny incident occurred after I had been repairing

screens on the back porch. Princess came running into my room

like a bat-out-of-hell and ran under a chair her favorite

hiding place. I didn’t know what was going on.

When I bent down and looked at her I saw that she had a long

thin piece of screen stuck in her fur.

It was about as long as she was extending between her front legs,

under her tummy and between her back legs.

She was in a panic and didn’t know what to do and was so relieved

when I was able to get it out of her fur.

She was not hurt and soon returned to her happy self.

Another funny thing she used to do was run out into the snow

and play in it. She would rub her nose in it and roll around in it.

By the time she would come in she would be covered with

big snowballs stuck in her fur.

Her beard would be packed with snow. I would have to use a

wire brush to get the frozen snow off of her.

She loved it and I called her a “snow-bunny”.

She used to sing when we sang or she heard a siren.

When I took her walking in a secluded area and left her

off the leash she would do what I called “frolic”.

She would run ahead of me turn around and look for me

and then run back to me because she wanted to run but

didn’t want to get too far away from me.

At this rate she wore herself out without really

going very far.

One of the last sort of funny things she did was this.

She was totally blind at the time but still pretty young and

still enjoying life. I would actually forget she was blind

sometimes because she got around so well.

However one night after dark I had gone into the back

yard with her.

She heard a bunny rabbit and started chasing it a

hundred miles an hour.

I yelled at her to try to stop her but she was determined.

She ran after that bunny and right into the fence.

She hit her head a ton and it must have hurt and she

was stunned but ok.

As I’ve said in the poem and tribute I did I will never

forget her. She was so special so smart so loving.

She gave me such joy and I loved her so much.
