The Rainbow Bridge

By the edge of the woods, at the foot of a hill
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Here is where our pets romp and run
When their time on earth is over and done.

A Haven between this world and the next,
This place where all loving pets find rest.
No more do they suffer, for here they are whole,
Their bodies have healed, they suffer no more.

They romp through the grass, no pet has a care,
Until they stop and sniff at the air.
Their ears prick forward, bright eyes are intent,
Then all of a sudden they break from the rest.

For just in that instant, your eyes have met,
Together again, both you and your pet.
So you run to each other, friends from long past,
The time of your parting is over at last.

Happy kisses rain on your face once again,
And you fondly caress the head of your friend.
The familiar warm body quivers with joy
And those loving soft eyes are alight once more.

The sadness you felt while you were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
You embrace with a love that will last forever
As you cross over the Rainbow Bridge together.

.......Until that day, Sadie baby, love always,
Sadie
