I will say this now
For all the world to know
You were my best friend
And know my head hangs low.

We shared so much
Love, laughter, tears
You taught me so much
You calmed all my fears.

All the games we played
The moments spent alone
You had a “smile” for all
Especially if they had a Milk bone.

The years went on
And our time grew short
Then it was here
Our time to part.

I feel such guilt for what I had to do
Was I right or was I wrong
A choice I didn’t want to make
I lie awake, for you I long.

I know you feel better
No more aches and pains
Green grass and sunshine
Never any rain.

We will be together again
One day you and I
Forever to love
Never again to die.

I can’t wait to see you
What a day that will be
A dog drooled tennis ball
And just you and me!

Till that day comes
I will hold you in my heart
I know that you loved me
And didn’t want to part.

You held on so long
You needed to let go
You just couldn’t go on
Your eyes told me so.

So there at the end
It was just you and me
Thanks for being so strong
