MORE THAN PETS

Animals can be so much more then pets
They become more like family or friend
Making our troubles easier to forget
No matter how our bad day has been.
Even when the world outside seems dark
And nothing seems to be going our way
We open that door to a happy bark
Someone that’s happy to see us everyday.
It makes life’s burdens easier to bear
To know someone’s waiting at home
A happy little presence that’s always there
To help keep us from feeling alone.
Pets in our care never ask for much
Their loyalty and love easy to earn
Food and shelter and a loving touch
And they give so much in return.
