Cat
Slinkey was a great friend.
He found his way into my room every night since I was eight.
We both had to deal with the trauma of me leaving home.
I went away to college and missed him lying next to me.
When I would go home on breaks or just to visit he
always remembered to find me.
Life has gotten more complicated by the year but Slinkey
was one of the few things I could count
on to stay normal.
He had a special experimental surgery when I was 12.
He was hit by a car.
The vet gave him a metal hip socket and joint.
He lived a whole lot longer that any of us thought he would.
He was my best friend.
Seeing him go ripped my heart out.
It was the worst pain I’ve felt in my life.
It scares me to know that there are worse things
that will happen.
