Cat
In June of 1991 my cat Momma gave birth to her beautiful kittens.
They all were so cute and had their own personalities
but I was only allowed to keep one kitten.
I knew right away which kitten I was going to keep.
My favorite kitten was all black so I named him Blacky.
I picked him because he was the most playful and
also very cuddly.
He was always so curious.
As the other kittens would stand around by their mom
Blacky was always off wondering around.
I could tell he was one of a kind.
Blacky has been a part of my life since I was 6 years old
I am now 18. He was the sweetest cat I ever knew.
You could lay him down beside you anywhere and he would curl up
next to you and purr himself to sleep.
When I went away to college he slept in my bed for several weeks,
my mom said it was like he knew that I was gone and he missed me.
He and Momma always sit with us while we’re eating supper just
staring at us waiting for the leftovers.
He was my special lil buddy.
About a week before Christmas Blacky began losing a lot of weight.
He stopped going outside every night
and barely ate anything.
He wanted water all the time a lot more then usual.
He started to look really sick and we could tell he was in a lot of pain.
I made him a bed on my chair and even tried spoon feeding him tuna.
But he would lick the spoon a little then turn away
and put his head down.
That night I spent the night at my friends house
and Saturday morning I got a wake up call from my mom
telling me that my lil buddy was dead.
He had a vet appt. for the following week but the morning of Saturday,
January 12th he could barely even hold his head up
so my parents took him to the pet ER.
They ran tests on him and said that he was in kidney failure and
that he was only expected to live a few more days.
MY parents had to make the decision to put our lil angel to sleep.
As soon as they got home they called me balling their eyes out
to let me know the bad news.
I only wished that I could have said good-bye to my lil buddy.
Blacky will be greatly missed but we will be together again in
heaven someday…until then he will
always be in our hearts.
