Those “Puppy Eyes”
When we first saw you that cold November night, just six weeks old, it was those beautiful “puppy eyes” that grabbed us by the heart…and never let go. We could never have known then what we would miss so much now.
We brought you home and you filled our lives with all the unconditional love you could give. Of course, there were times we were so mad at you we couldn’t see straight. But then those “puppy eyes”.
Standing in your water bowl when it was empty. Pushing your food bowl across the floor if dinner was a few minutes late. Going on walks until YOU decided you’d gone far enough, sitting down as if to say “if you want to walk some more go ahead. I’m done!” But then those “puppy eyes”.
Full of life and love…and mischief.
Then you gave us another gift. Another beautiful part of you, with her own personality, full of love…and her own set of those “puppy eyes”. We promise you we will take care of your baby until she comes to you.
For almost 12 years, we shared our lives with you, and you shared yours with us. We are so fortunate to have had you in our home, part of our family, and the time seems to have flown by. Too soon it was time to let you go, a gift from God, returned now to Him.
We named you Sugar Ann Spice, and you reminded us daily that you were a healthy dose of both! Such an attitude! We had no idea the night we first saw you.
So precious. So loving. And those “puppy eyes”.
And when the time came, you looked at us with those eyes and asked us to help you. It happened so quickly, and it was the hardest thing we’ve ever had to do. But we know in our hearts you are now running free in the grass, nose in the air, taking in all the wonderful smells and waiting for the time when you‘ll suddenly stop and turn…and again we’ll see…
….those “puppy eyes.”
