Dachshund
Toto was our first dachshund.
We got her when our daughter was five years old.
Since our daughter was an only child
we felt a pet would be companion for our daughter
but she became our pet too.
Toto’s name came from my daughter’s favorite movie Wizard of Oz
even though I told her Toto was a male name.
Toto loved to eat.
She grew large for a supposedly miniature dachshund about 20 lbs.
She loved car rides chasing rabbits cruising the kitchen floor for crumbs
that might had dropped from the table and playing ball.
In 1989 we got another dachshund named Heidi.
They did get jealous at times but they loved each other.
In 1986 we bred Toto and she had two pups. One died at birth.
So we gave her only son to my parents and they named him Marino.
Toto got very ill. Vet said it was due to old age.
We had to put her to sleep on January 14 2001.
She had lost alot of weight and her kidneys started to fail and
she was in pain.
Sadly to say Marino fell broke his back and
had to put to sleep on May 9 2001.
Toto and Marino crossed the Rainbow Bridge and
I know they are together again.
Toto would have been 16 this year. We still miss her and Marino.
My parents still are grieving for Marino.
Heidi is still with us. She is 13 years old.
Since Toto died Heidi has taken over cruising
the kitchen floor just like Toto used to do.
I sometimes feel like she is still here
since Heidi has taken over some of the things Toto used to do.
I have always felt that pets are little angels in furry coats
sent from God to teach us unconditional love.
We miss you Toto & Marino ..
You will always be in our Hearts forever..
Love Mom Dad & Heather and Papa and Mama
