Twinkie by Shirley

Twinkie Dog

I saved you one day little one
Pet store had you all alone.
You would not eat you
would not drink.
I took a chance
I did not think

Brought you home and
with much love
I brought you back
to play and love.
Each morn you greeted
with ears perked high
You barked at squirrels
and passersby.

A special doggie
you will always be
And I hope someday
that I shall see
My special dog jump
at my feet.
Her grieving master
she will greet.

Until that day
I’ll face the wind
And await the greeting
from my little friend.
