My story deals with my best friend “WITTEN”.
He was the most lovable cat that I had ever grown to know.
He was friendly and gentle and was always there when I needed him the most.
I never thought about life without him. Yet sadly 2 years ago he
contracted Feline Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome
[ a form of feline AIDS] and Leukemia in a fight with another cat.
It was my choice whether or not to put him to sleep. It was the hardest
decision of my life because ‘Witten’ was my best friend and obviously I
didn’t want to loose him. But then again there was no way that I would
allow him to suffer!
The real message here is to remind others to have your cats checked for
these diseases by your vet at least every 6 months and try to keep your
cats indoors. Raised in an indoor environment. cats are quite happy and
live full and rewarding lives. [ed]
