Terrier/Poodle
This is our story of our two dogs Ariel who was 12 and
Zeus who was 1 that died today 8-25-01
Our family has been blessed by having wonderful pets…
Ariel was just 6 weeks old when we got her….
she was so playful and cute…. she helped teach my children
the importance of caring for someone or something else….
unconditional love.
Later she taught us that she can also help improve our lives
when she proved to be therapeutic for my son
(who is special needs)…..
Ariel was getting up there in age and I decided to keep a puppy
from her last litter a year ago a little boy named Zeus….
Zeus was so hyper and could easily keep up with my son….
He would whimper when the kids went outside without him….
He was my kids protector and watched over them…..
Ariel became solely my shadow…..
They both went camping with us and was loved by all
who came near them…. regular campers nicknamed Ariel
“Sawed Off”…. because she is so short the camper said it looked
like someone came and sawed off her legs…
Wednesday this week (8-22-01)
I came home from work and noticed both dogs were sick…
thought it was the heat…
They had been out earlier that morning and we lost power
that after noon so they had no fans or air-conditioned…
Thursday they were worse so I took them to the vet and
discovered they were poisoned….
For 2 nights I sat up with them holding them while they seizure
giving them water through a medicine syringe…
despite my efforts we lost both of them today….
While the kids and I cry tears of sadness for two dogs
that became a part of our family I also cry tears of joy
for we were truly blessed with such wonderful pets
and have learned so much from them….
We are so lucky to have loved them…
and for them to have loved us and
they fought for their lives right until the end…..
Ariel and Zeus taught us about unconditional love
about caring for someone else about how important it is to have
someone love you unconditionally as well and now about
death and how life goes on……
