Bailey by Chris Belletieri / Chris

I lost a very special cat in June. His name was Micky and he was my best friend. It was very difficult for me and so I wanted to fill my house with fuzzy faces to replace him. I had one cat at home, and my vet gave me one more. This was not enough. I wanted a smart cat like Micky, who would hang out with me and fill the void.

So in August I went to pick up a new kitten. In the breeders house was a male fawn aby, named “Timer”. He looked at me as if to tell me he wanted to come home with me. Because I was getting a new kitten, my mother took “Timer” home, we renamed him Bailey. Bailey did not fit in with her cats so he came to live with me. He and the kitten, Scarlett, got along great. He started to have some serious health issues and I realized why he was given away for free.

He went through tons of tests and eventually we took him to a specialty hospital 2 hours away. He stayed there for three weeks and had surgery done to his intestines. After the surgery, there was lots of medication. All of a sudden he got better, stronger and friskier.

Bailey became my best friend, he was always with me. He was funny, he drank from the faucet and sat on my shoulders like a scarf. He gave the best hugs. I loved him so much. He was such a fighter.

Then he got sick again. This time he had kidney failure and doctors and tests couldn’t help him. I took him for three months for fluids and vitamin shots and medication and anything they could think of to get him better.

It was time. I fought it but it was time and I couldn’t bear to see him lose his spunk. By now my oldest cat was having kidney failure as well and it was time to put them both to sleep. I lost my two boys together.

I love you Bailey Burger. I hope you and Micky are having lots of fun together.

I miss you still,
Bailey
